Project 'Community of Action' supported by The German Marshall Fund of the United States.
Within the 'Community of Action' project, a course titled 'Community of Action' was organized and conducted.
During the course, 20 veterans and their family members underwent training. They were provided with knowledge on fundamental human and civil rights, the division of powers between state authorities and local governments, the basics of electoral and constitutional law, forming local and state policy, creating public associations and political parties, taking positions in state and local government bodies, and more. The course was conducted in Odesa in three stages, each consisting of three full days. 20 trainers were involved in conducting the course.
Main project outcomes:
- 20 veterans and their family members gained knowledge of fundamental human and civil rights, the distribution of powers between state authorities and local governments, basics of electoral and constitutional law, which led to an increase in legal awareness and public activity among veterans.
- As a result of the project implementation, communities of active, informed, and motivated veterans and their family members were united and created, driven to implement changes in the community and the state. A common chat was created for the participants in Telegram, where they can exchange information and support each other.
- The socialization of veterans to civilian life took place, shifting their focus from war to the 'peaceful' front. Veterans and their family members acquired effective mechanisms for using their public rights and freedoms to influence authorities, access public information, form local and state policy, create public associations and political parties, and take positions in state and local government bodies. Therefore, representatives of our community can represent and protect the interests of veterans at the local and state levels.
- More people who were previously not active in this sphere but had the initiative and desire to join the active veteran and pro-veteran community were engaged in public activity, which led to an increase in the number and quality of public initiatives. During the project's activity in Chernihiv, a new veteran space was opened, whose representatives were participants in our project. Also, one of the project's representatives entered the local government bodies in their community and established their own initiative there.
